Sant Ram Singhji (Bade Babaji) saint of Hotimardan Samprada was a very pious and a strictly religious man. He did Sewa at Baba Nidhan Singh Dera, Nanded but joined Langar Sewa at Sachkhand Darbar, Nanded during the strike there. He was very popular with the children who would come to him for learning Shabads for gaining success in their examinations. He would reach them everything about Waheguru and Simran.
Once when Bab Ram Singh read Baba Moni ji’s, palm he told him that he would not live more than 14 years. Babaji asked if anything could be done to prolong his age as he wanted to do Sewa. Sant Ram Singhji told him that Penance was one way to increase his age. That led Baba Joginder Singhji to adopt that strict disciplinary lifestyle which brought in penance and prolonged his life to spread the message of Waheguru.
Babaji came in touch with Baba Ramsinghji, when he was in his 6th standard and soon he was no more interested in studies and got encouraged into the world of spiritualism. Due to this, Kishan Singhji, his father, even locked up Babaji in a room after scolding him. The next morning seeing Baba Moniji missing Baba Ram Singh felt a very strong urge and rushed to Moni Sahibs house. On reaching there his inner vision beheld young Baba Moni Sahib sitting in deep samadhi engulfed in a myriad hued spiritual light, this spectacle changed his vision and so of his father that made them realize that Baba ji was meant for a much higher role in life. After this incident, Kishan Singhji promised never to scold the child.
Sant Ram Singhji (Bade Babaji), Babaji’s earliest teacher, would always test him in different ways to determine whether he was still attached to materialistic things of the world. He would also test whether Babaji would lose his temper in a variety of situations. On one such occasion Bade BabaJi asked him to prepare tea for Sangat. Since BabaJi had no firewood left, he hinted this to his teacher, but Bade Babaji pointed towards Babaji’s kurta indicating the he could use that to make a fire and instantaneously Babaji did so and prepared tea. Repeating this incident again when tea had to be prepared without firewood, Babaji even used the only paper available, currency notes to light a fire to make tea. Bade BabaJi was pleased to see this and embraced Babaji with love. Babaji kept passing test after test as he rose closer to his destined goal of ultimate divine sewa.
On Amavasya (when the Moon is not visible even with a clear night sky), at the stroke of midnight, Bade BabaJi would take all children to Nagina ghat and make them sit for Paath separately to free the minds from evil spirits. Being away from the family and getting up early at One O’clock in the morning used to disturb everyone in the house. So his father tried to stop Babaji from all this, but had to face the wrath of Shaheed Singh for not letting him go. Ultimately the father relented and promised never to stop Babaji again.
