Babaji used to take the Sangat for many pilgrimages all over the country which included Harmandir Saheb Darbar (Golden Temple, Amritsar), other Holy places of Punjab, Una Saheb and Mani Karan Saheb (Himachal Pradesh), Patna Sahib and Hemkunt Saheb, Saint Amma Radha Bai had promised to take the Sangat for these holy tours and these were fulfilled by Babaji.
The pilgrimage to Hemkunt Saheb is full of divine mysteries, beyond the description of human words. On one occasion in Pimpri, Pune, approximately six months prior to a pre-determined tour, Babaji went into a Samadhi. When asked where had he gone, he replied that there were many obstacles on the road to Hemkunt Saheb and he had gone to repair them. That was truly the case as when the Sangat reached Rishikesh in the month of August, they encountered hurdles of all kinds on their journey. There were landslides on the way resulting in deaths, much to the horror of those who happened to see them with their own eyes. Those who lost courage and faith in Him, came back without achieving anything, but all those who were steadfast and had implicit faith were rewarded with joys of vision and ecstasy. Every moment of this journey was an effortless flight and they were greeted with sunny weather at the end, on top of the mountain providing an unusual sight that is hard to describe in words. In fact this was one instance in a sequence of such divine events that appeared to occur at varied intervals.
Every word of Babaji’s was worth hearing and every smile of his was worth observing to better understand and imbibe the deeper truth that lay behind them. His dedicated work transcended ordinary human comprehension, and the measure of reward is equal to the measure of faith in the service to him. This is the philosophy he preached to his entourage and focused the attention of his followers to the greatness of Gurbani and the sacrifices of our Gurus for mankind. We Live because They sacrificed was his simple message to all. He bestowed upon his followers the love for the Gurudwara, Sewa, Langar, Kirtan, Paath and urged them to respect all humans irrespective of their religion, race, caste or creed.
When he was the Head Pujari, Babaji had taken up the cause of uplifting women and children by imparting technical skills training to them, such as sewing, embroidery, and other technical trades through the institution named Shree Hazur Pita Dashmesh Mata Sahib Devan Dastkari Kendra. The Dastkari Kendra was started in 1973. Babaji voluntarily donated the Jagir of Guru Darbar attached to the post of Head Pujari Saheb and all income from the agricultural Jagir, on 27th March 1966. The Gurudwara passed a resolution and offered rations worth Rs. 4200/- per annum to pay for the Langar. However Babaji did not accept a single paisa as remuneration for this devoted service. Babaji donated his entire land and property to cover the costs of Langar (community kitchen).
Babaji is truly an embodiment of divine virtues such as love, universal tolerance, self-effacement, fearlessness and spiritual excellence.
